Is Yoga Therapy for me?
When clients seek out a yoga therapist, they are usually not coming to learn yoga. but to get help and guidance. They are seeking relief from a symptom or health condition that is troubling them. In most cases, the instruction focuses on their condition and how yoga techniques can help them feel better or improve their function. Secondary focus is on the techniques or methods of yoga practice.
If your doctor has told you to do yoga, a yoga therapy session is the right place to start. Often people choose to participate in a group class without any prior guidance, leading to additional challenge and injury.
Yoga Therapy is a body-mind approach to healing utilizing the concept of embodied mindfulness, rather than focusing on yoga methods and practices. As a yoga therapist, Gloria focuses on your basic needs, adjusting methods that support your unique healing journey.
A conscious & loving approach to balance, healing and happiness!
How does a yoga therapy session work?
Session typically runs between 75 to 90 minutes. Yoga Therapy is not just alignment, but a realignment of what is possible, through exploration, education and experimentation. Your unique condition and life is your divine, sacred journey. After completing an intake and assessment, we focus on the specific symptoms that challenge you in your day to day and identify methods to help you reduce, or manage symptoms, improve function and your quality of life. In addition, we explore ways to empower you to have a more active role in your self-care and healing by establishing appropriate goals and developing a practice intervention.
